2010 Michiana Districts Regatta on June 19-20

This years Districts had some exciting windy conditions on Saturday. The wind was ranging from 15 to 25 kts with air temperature on shore at 90 and water temperature in the lake of 68. Way beter to be out sailing than on shore! A few boats had to be towed in through out the day but most people managed fine. The RC got 4 races off in some trying conditions. Even with it that windy the wind shifted almost 90 degrees through out the day (SSW to WNW). Sunday was lighter but the wind was West..again...which means shifty at Crescent since it is coming of the shore. We got the last two races done and were greated by a Bagpiper on the sail into the harbor. He was there for Crescent's annual Blessing of the Fleet and our Commodore, Loretta Rehe, had him go out to the outer seawall to "pipe us in". In the photo album he is in picture 531.

 Crescent Day! 
Sunday, August 8th
This year we are asking for some help from you!
If you come across any of the following items while you are doing your spring cleaning, and they are no longer needed in your home, please set them aside. They can be dropped off in the upstairs furnace room at Crescent. They will be put to very good use at least one more time before they are sent to the landfill. Any materials you provide will help us keep the ever rising cost of this event as low as possible and keep the fun factor as high as possible (just ask anyone who attended last year)!
Make sure they are marked "Save for Crescent Day"
- Shoeboxes, any size, any kind - (ran out last year)
- Tomato stakes - (ran out last year)
- Tape, any kind
- Plastic bags (for sails)
- Any "sail-like" material
- Markers, any kind
- Scissors
- String
- anything else usable for constructing a shoebox sailboat
Other game related items:
- Bandanas or other material suitable for blindfolds
- Old mainsheets or jibsheets
- burlap bags or similar for sack races
